Este manual ilustra la utilidad del deporte global como lente a través del cual desentrañar los patrones polÃticos, económicos, culturales y sociales interconectados que dan forma a nuestras vidas. Partiendo de perspectivas multidisciplinarias, se organiza en tres partes. La primera parte describe las ideas teóricas y conceptuales de los estudios deportivos globales: desde la conceptualización y el desarrollo de las teorÃas de la globalización, el transnacionalismo y el capital transnacional, hasta el mediasport, la colonialidad errante y la doctrina neoliberal. La segunda parte ilustra los variados flujos dentro del deporte global y las formas en que estos flujos se cuestionan, a través de culturas fÃsicas/formas deportivas, identidades, ideologÃas, medios y capital económico. Se cubren diversos temas y casos, como el negocio del deporte y la industria deportiva global, el juego limpio financiero y el mediasport global. Finalmente, la tercera parte explora varios aspectos del desarrollo y la gobernanza del deporte global, incorporando conocimientos del trabajo en el Sur Global. En todas estas contribuciones, se adoptan diversos enfoques para examinar el tropo del "poder del deporte", generando un diálogo que invita a la reflexión al lector.
