Este libro examina el papel de las experiencias religiosas y espirituales en la comprensión que las personas tienen de su entorno y cómo sus experiencias de lugar se transforman en el proceso. Los contribuyentes consideran cómo la comprensión y las experiencias de las conexiones religiosas y de lugar están motivadas por la necesidad de buscar y mantener contacto con objetos perceptivos, para formar experiencias de relación significativas. El propósito no es involucrarse en una religión comparada o analizar diferentes tradiciones religiosas en relación con el lugar, sino más bien comprender cómo las percepciones de las personas sobre objetos físicos, imaginarios y transpersonales dan forma a sus experiencias religiosas y de lugar. Este libro es uno de los primeros intentos académicos de discutir los vínculos psicológicos entre el lugar y las experiencias religiosas. Los capítulos proporcionan ideas para comprender cómo las experiencias de las personas con los lugares geográficos y lo sagrado sirven como agentes para la creación de significado, el comportamiento prosocial y el ajuste psicológico en la vida cotidiana. |
