Aspira a utilizar la amplitud de los Estudios de Ciencia y Tecnología para realizar un diagnóstico crítico de nuestra cultura contemporánea. En lugar de construir la tecnología como el "otro" de la sociedad, el libro se propone resaltar los complejos y ambivalentes entrelazamientos de las tecnologías, las ciencias y las socialidades. Proporciona algunos pasos tentativos hacia un diagnóstico de una sociedad en la que los individuos y las organizaciones se abordan a sí mismos, a sus pasados, presentes, futuros, esperanzas y problemas en modos tecnocientíficos. Las tecnociencias rediseñan la materia, la vida, el yo y la sociedad. Sin embargo, no operan de forma independiente: las prácticas tecnocientíficas están profundamente constituidas social y culturalmente. Las diversas contribuciones resaltan las reconfiguraciones tecnológicas en curso de racionalidades, infraestructuras, modos de gobernanza y públicos. El libro tiene como objetivo inspirar a académicos y estudiantes a pensar y analizar las condiciones contemporáneas de nuevas maneras, aprovechando y ampliando las herramientas de los estudios de ciencia y tecnología. Technosciences redesign matter, life, self and society. However, they do not operate independently: Technoscientific practices are deeply socially and culturally constituted. The diverse contributions highlight the ongoing technological reconfigurations of rationalities, infrastructures, modes of governance, and publics.
