Hermenéutica Resumen: Las contribuciones a este volumen fueron escritas por historiadores, historiadores del derecho e historiadores del arte, cada uno utilizando sus propios métodos y fuentes, pero todos concentrándose en temas del amplio tema de la iconografía histórica jurídica. ¿Cómo se han representado los conceptos de derecho y justicia en el arte (público) desde la Baja Edad Media en adelante? Jueces y gobernantes tenían sus salas de audiencias, pero también iglesias, decoradas con imágenes inspiradoras. Al principio la influencia religiosa fue enorme, pero a partir de la Edad Moderna comenzaron a aparecer nuevos símbolos y alegorías. A lo largo de la historia, el arte ha sido utilizado para legitimar el acto de juzgar, pero los artistas también han satirizado a la ley y a los abogados; arquitectos y artesanos se han involucrado en proyectos jurídicos y judiciales y, en algunos casos penales, incluso se ha condenado a condenados a producir obras de arte. El libro ilustra y contextualiza las diversas interacciones entre el derecho y la justicia, por un lado, y sus representaciones artísticas en pinturas, estatuas, dibujos, tapices, grabados y libros, por el otro. Las últimas décadas han sido testigos de importantes debates sobre las políticas de justicia juvenil. En varios países se ha revisado la legislación sobre menores y justicia juvenil. A pesar de que han surgido nuevas perspectivas, como la justicia restaurativa, los debates se han centrado en gran medida en cuestiones que nos devuelven a los inicios de la justicia juvenil: a saber, si la justicia juvenil debería parecerse más a la justicia penal punitiva para adultos, o más bien sensible al bienestar de los jóvenes. Esta cuestión ha estado en el centro de las decisiones políticas que han dado su orientación a la justicia juvenil desde principios del siglo XX. También dio forma a la evolución que abrió el camino a la creación de los tribunales de menores en el siglo XIX. Comprender esos primeros debates es esencial si queremos comprender los debates actuales y ponerlos en perspectiva. Basado en investigaciones primarias de archivos, este estudio integral comienza presentando las raíces, nacimiento y evolución de la justicia juvenil, desde el siglo XIX hasta principios del XXI. La segunda parte trata de las respuestas del siglo XIX a la delincuencia juvenil en Inglaterra y Canadá, mientras que la tercera se centra en la orientación asistencial que caracterizó a los tribunales de menores en la primera mitad del siglo XX en Suiza, los Países Bajos, Alemania y Bélgica.
