Este libro presenta los hallazgos de investigaciones recientes y revisa crÃticamente la literatura existente relacionada con la evaluación de estructuras geotécnicas bajo condiciones de carga complejas y extremas, como cargas cÃclicas, sÃsmicas y explosivas. Se da especial énfasis a la evaluación experimental del comportamiento de suelos y rocas en la construcción de túneles, mientras que se utilizan técnicas avanzadas de modelado numérico para modelar y hacer predicciones precisas en proyectos de construcción emergentes, como túneles y terraplenes. El libro está en lÃnea con las tendencias actuales en ingenierÃa civil que avanzan hacia el diseño y la construcción sostenibles que abordan los desafÃos energéticos y materiales.
