Esta tercera edición es la primera edición en inglés de la galardonada Meilensteine der Rechentechnik; ilustrado a todo color en dos volúmenes. La tercera edición está dedicada a dispositivos informáticos analógicos y digitales, así como a los autómatas históricos más magníficos del mundo y a instrumentos científicos selectos (empleados en astronomía, topografía, medición del tiempo, etc.). También incluye instrucciones detalladas para máquinas e instrumentos de cálculo mecánico analógico y digital, y es el único libro histórico con glosarios técnicos completos de términos que no se encuentran en diccionarios impresos ni en línea. El libro también incluye una bibliografía muy extensa basada en la literatura de numerosos países del mundo. Con una investigación minuciosa, el autor realizó un estudio mundial de museos de ciencia, tecnología y arte con sus principales fondos de máquinas y dispositivos de cálculo y computación analógicos y digitales, autómatas históricos e instrumentos científicos seleccionados para describir una amplia gama de logros técnicos magistrales.
