Este libro explora la relación entre diversos movimientos sociales y culturas históricas marxistas durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX en Europa occidental, con especial énfasis en la República Federal de Alemania e Italia. Durante la Guerra Fría, las ideas marxistas y su comprensión de la historia influyeron no sólo en los partidos comunistas tradicionales de Europa occidental, sino que también influyeron en una serie de nuevos movimientos sociales que surgieron en la década de 1970 a raíz de las rebeliones estudiantiles de 1968. La generación del 68 estuvo fuertemente influenciada por las ideas neomarxistas que posteriormente trasladaron a los nuevos movimientos sociales. El volumen pregunta cómo las culturas históricas marxistas influyeron en los movimientos del tercer mundo, los movimientos antifascistas, el movimiento por la paz y una gran cantidad de otros nuevos movimientos sociales que señalaron una nueva vitalidad de la sociedad civil en Europa occidental a partir de los años setenta. |
