El libro presenta un análisis de las amenazas ecológicas, económicas y sociales que plantea la introducción y propagación de especies no nativas. Proporciona una descripción completa de los impactos de las especies no nativas de los cinco reinos de la vida en todos los ecosistemas del mundo. Se generan nuevos conocimientos sobre los impactos derivados de las invasiones biológicas adoptando una perspectiva de los servicios ecosistémicos.
