Este volumen incluye contribuciones seleccionadas presentadas durante la segunda edición de la conferencia internacional sobre WaterEnergyNEXUS que se celebró en Salerno, Italia, en noviembre de 2018. Esta conferencia fue organizada por la División de Ingeniería Ambiental Sanitaria (SEED) de la Universidad de Salerno (Italia) en cooperación con el Instituto Avanzado de la Industria del Agua de la Universidad Nacional de Kyungpook (Corea) y con el Instituto de Energía y Recursos, TERI (India). La iniciativa recibió el patrocinio de la UNESCO – Programa de la Asociación Mundial del Agua (WWAP) y de la Asociación Internacional del Agua (IWA) y fue organizada con el apoyo de Springer (MENA Publishing Program), el Consejo Árabe del Agua (AWC), la Sociedad Coreana de Ingeniería Ambiental. (KSEE) y Sociedad Italiana de Profesores de Ingeniería Ambiental Sanitaria (GITISA). Con el apoyo de expertos internacionales invitados como ponentes plenarios y principales, la conferencia tenía como objetivo ofrecer una plataforma para que los países euromediterráneos compartieran y debatieran temas clave sobre cuestiones relacionadas con el agua y la energía mediante la presentación de soluciones basadas en la naturaleza, tecnologías avanzadas y las mejores prácticas para un medio ambiente más sostenible. Este volumen ofrece una descripción general y breve de la investigación actual centrada en los problemas y desafíos emergentes del Nexo Agua-Energía y sus posibles aplicaciones a una variedad de problemas ambientales que están impactando la zona euromediterránea y las regiones circundantes. Se incluye una selección de soluciones novedosas y alternativas aplicadas en todo el mundo. El volumen contiene más de cien contribuciones cuidadosamente revisadas de 44 países de todo el mundo seleccionados para la conferencia.
