Este texto está compuesto por estudios realizados en doce países y divididos en tres partes según sus respectivos tres continentes. Casi 10.000 jóvenes han participado y todos los capítulos abordan la cuestión de si las convicciones religiosas o de cosmovisión obstaculizan o favorecen el apoyo a los derechos humanos y en qué medida. Los estudios son comparativos en múltiples niveles debido a la gran cantidad de grupos religiosos y países. Los estudios tienen en cuenta las diferencias personales, religiosas y socioculturales, mostrando el papel ambivalente de la religión en el esfuerzo por hacer el mundo más seguro, más democrático, justo y compasivo a través de los derechos humanos.
