Esta colección se centra en tecnologías energéticamente eficientes, incluido el beneficio innovador de minerales, tecnologías de fundición, reciclaje y recuperación de calor residual. El volumen también cubre varios aspectos tecnológicos de los ecosistemas energéticos sostenibles, procesos que mejoran la eficiencia energética, reducen las emisiones térmicas y reducen el dióxido de carbono y otras emisiones de efecto invernadero. Artículos que abordan recursos energéticos renovables para la producción de metales y materiales, recuperación de calor residual y otras tecnologías industriales energéticamente eficientes, nuevos conceptos o dispositivos para la generación y conversión de energía, mejora de la eficiencia energética en la ingeniería de procesos, sostenibilidad y evaluación del ciclo de vida de los sistemas energéticos, así como Se incluye la termodinámica y modelado para procesos metalúrgicos sustentables. Este volumen también ofrece temas sobre el secuestro de CO2 y la reducción de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero procedentes de la ingeniería de procesos, las tecnologías sostenibles en la metalurgia extractiva, así como las industrias de procesamiento y fabricación de materiales con menor consumo de energía y emisiones de CO2. También se incluyen en este volumen las contribuciones de todos los ámbitos de las fuentes de energía no nuclear y no tradicional, como la solar, la eólica y la biomasa.
