Este libro examina la autenticidad de The Wire y su establecimiento del realismo de la serie. Junto con la crítica en pantalla del creador David Simon de numerosas instituciones estadounidenses fallidas, el libro se centra en la conexión entre autenticidad y realismo en tres áreas distintas: lenguaje, carácter y ubicación.
