Esta colección editada destaca los diferentes significados que se le han atribuido a la noción de seguridad energética y cómo se refiere a diferentes objetos. Las definiciones de polÃticas oficiales de seguridad energética son muy similares en todos los paÃses y enfatizan la confiabilidad y asequibilidad del acceso a suficientes recursos energéticos para que una comunidad pueda mantener sus funciones económicas y sociales normales. Sin embargo, las percepciones de seguridad energética varÃan entre los estados, lo que provoca que se tomen diferentes acciones, tanto en las relaciones internacionales como en la polÃtica interna. La seguridad energética en Europa lleva los debates polÃticos sobre seguridad energética más allá de una consideración de su naturaleza aparentemente objetiva. También proporciona una serie de contribuciones que arrojan luz sobre las condiciones bajo las cuales factores materiales similares se enfrentan con polÃticas de seguridad energética muy diferentes y discursos divergentes en toda Europa. Además, problematiza nociones establecidas que prevalecen en los estudios de seguridad energética, tales como si la seguridad energética es "geopolÃtica" y un elemento de la alta polÃtica, o puramente "económica", y deberÃa dejarse que los mercados la regulen. Este libro será de particular relevancia para estudiantes y académicos en los campos de los estudios energéticos y las ciencias polÃticas que buscan comprender la divergencia en las perspectivas y comprensiones de los desafÃos de seguridad energética entre los estados miembros de la UE y en las relaciones multilaterales entre la UE en su conjunto. |

This edited collection highlights the different meanings that have been attached to the notion of energy security and how it is taken to refer to different objects. Official policy definitions of energy security are broadly similar across countries and emphasize the reliability and affordability of access to sufficient energy resources for a community to uphold its normal economic and social functions. However, perceptions of energy security vary between states causing different actions to be taken, both in international relations and in domestic politics. Energy Security in Europe moves the policy debates on energy security beyond a consideration of its seemingly objective nature. It also provides a series of contributions that shed light on the conditions under which similar material factors are met with very different energy security policies and divergent discourses across Europe. Furthermore, it problematizes established notions prevalent in energy security studies, such as whether energy security is 'geopolitical', and an element of high politics, or purely 'economic', and should be left for the markets to regulate. This book will be of particular relevance to students and academics in the fields of energy studies and political science seeking to understand the divergence in perspectives and understandings of energy security challenges between EU member states and in multilateral relationships between the EU as a whole. |
