Tipo de medio : Computadora Summary : Social entrepreneurship is one of the most controversial actualities of the modern economy. On the one hand, social entrepreneurship makes up for "market failures" and prevents the deficit of socially essential goods and services in the marketplace, acting as their supplier. On the other hand, the survival of social entrepreneurship in an aggressive market environment is a challenging task, the fulfilment of which may distort the original essence of social entrepreneurship. Comprising a collection of research presented at the International Scientific Conference Advanced Issues on Social Entrepreneurship, this contributed volume offers a global economic analysis of social entrepreneurship. Whilst social entrepreneurship is indispensable to the modern economy, the current controversial model of its organization means it cannot fully accomplish its mission. This book offers potential solutions to this problem with the global and national strategies of economic growth and social progress. It includes a focus on emerging markets, in which the role of social entrepreneurship is especially high. This book is aimed at scholars and students who are interested in social entrepreneurship and corporate economics, and practitioners involved in this field. It will also be of interest to policy makers in the development and implementation of a national economic policy for support for social entrepreneurship in emerging markets. Elena G. Popkova is Doctor of Economics and Professor at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Russia. She is also President of the autonomous non-profit organization "Institute of Scientific Communications", Russia. Bruno S. Sergi is an instructor at the Harvard University, USA, an Affiliate at the Center for International Development at Harvard, and an Associate at the Harvard Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. Nota de contenido: Chapter 1: Introduction -- Chapter 2: State Corporate Control in Transition: Research Perspectives -- Chapter 3: State Corporate Control in Transition: Challenges and Goals -- Chapter 4: Evolution of the State Corporate Control in Poland during the Transition -- Chapter 5: State Corporate Control in Polish Transition: Main Outcomes -- Chapter 6: Sources of the State Corporate Control Policy in Poland and its Evolution -- Chapter 7: Polish Experience in a Comparative Perspective -- Chapter 8: Epilogue. Tipo de medio : Computadora Summary : Since the global financial crisis of 2008-2009, there has been a growing interest among policy makers towards the more active role of the state in the enterprise sector. This book provides valuable insight into the changing role of state-owned enterprises in economic policy, a topic at the cross section of three interrelated, but usually independent research streams: transition research, varieties of capitalism literature and patterns of state ownership (institutionalism). With the existing literature on state ownership concentrating on the developed economies and on selected emerging economies, this book fills an important gap in focusing on the post-communist transition countries. The Polish experience is looked at in a comparative perspective of selected transition countries, which deserve special attention as they had to cope with a radical change of their economic policies towards the enterprise sector. This book will be valuable reading for academics in economic policy, transition economics, and institutional economics, and policy makers and practitioners in EU bodies and emerging economies. TÃtulo : The Dynamics of Green Innovation in B2B Industries : A Systems Approach to Explain the Diffusion of Bioplastics Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Rhein, Friederike Esther, Mención de edición: 1 ed. Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Green Innovation in the B2B Context -- B2B Innovation Adoption and Diffusion -- Research Design and Methodology -- Exploring why and how B2B Buyers Adopt Bioplastics -- Investigating Relevant Factors in Business Adoption of Bioplastics -- Developing a Diffusion Model for emerging Bioplastic Products -- Integrating Findings and Conclusions. Tipo de medio : Computadora Summary : In this book a quantitative, dynamic model is developed to explain and explore the diffusion of green new products in a business-to-business (B2B) context. Considering the case of emerging bioplastics, this goal is reached through a mixed-methods design, combining qualitative and quantitative methods over three phases. After an interview study with key-value chain actors an experimental vignette technique is applied to further study relevant factors in the micro (firm) level adoption process. Integrating the empirical findings, the diffusion model is developed and simulated at the macro (industry) level using a System Dynamics (SD) approach. Results explain the underlying dynamics and critical conditions for adoption to become self-sustaining. The Author Friederike Esther Rhein is currently business manager Point of Care at a leading medical technology company .
