Este libro ofrece ensayos ecuménicos que se centran en el cristianismo de la Reforma y en los entendimientos y relaciones actuales entre luterano y católico. Aborda cuestiones importantes, incluido el significado de la Reforma, la recepción de Lutero en Alemania y más allá, los diálogos ecuménicos contemporáneos y los caminos hacia el futuro. También hay cierta inclusión de las tradiciones judÃas y ortodoxas, asà como atención a los problemas globales. En su conjunto, el método principal de este libro es la teologÃa informada por la historia, la hermenéutica, la ética y la teorÃa social. Dentro de la estructura del libro se puede encontrar el clásico cÃrculo hermenéutico: ¿Cuál fue el significado de la Reforma para Lutero en su época? ¿Cuáles son las diversas formas en que se han interpretado a Lutero y la Reforma en la historia? ¿Cómo nos ayuda hoy el conocimiento de estas cosas a comprender la Reforma y seguir adelante? Gerard Mannion ocupó la Cátedra Joseph y Winifred Amaturo de Estudios Católicos en la Universidad de Georgetown, donde también fue investigador principal del Centro Berkley para la Religión, la Paz y los Asuntos Mundiales. Dennis M. Doyle es profesor de Estudios Religiosos en la Universidad de Dayton, donde ha enseñado durante más de treinta y cinco años. Theodore G.
