Este libro ofrece un relato actualizado de las polÃticas y prácticas pertinentes en materia de primera infancia en cinco sociedades chinas: la República Popular China o China continental, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapur y Taiwán. Analiza cómo los valores tradicionales chinos, los enfoques curriculares orientales y occidentales y los cambios sociopolÃticos, económicos, culturales y demográficos influyen en las polÃticas, los servicios y las prácticas actuales. Aborda las respuestas a las preocupaciones mundiales sobre los excluidos y los desfavorecidos, y sobre la calidad, y explica las lecciones de y para la educación de la primera infancia china. Este libro es la primera revisión basada en investigaciones en idioma inglés sobre la educación de la primera infancia y los factores que la afectan en diferentes sociedades chinas. Es particularmente oportuno dado el creciente reconocimiento de la importancia de la educación de la primera infancia para el desarrollo del capital humano a nivel mundial y el interés internacional en comprender la educación de la primera infancia en las sociedades chinas. |

This book provides an up-to-date account of relevant early childhood policy and practice in five Chinese societies: the People's Republic of China or Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, and Taiwan. It analyses how traditional Chinese values, Eastern and Western curricular approaches, and socio-political, economic, cultural and demographic changes influence current policies, services and practice. It addresses responses to global concerns about the excluded and disadvantaged, and about quality, and explains lessons from and for Chinese early childhood education. This book is the first English-language research-based review of early childhood education and the factors that affect it in different Chinese societies. It is particularly timely given the increased recognition of the importance of early childhood education for human capital development globally, and the international interest in understanding early education in Chinese societies. |
